PARENTAL PRESENCE IN THE HOME
PARENTS: Biological and adoptive parents, foster parents, single parents, step-parents, older siblings and other relatives and non-relatives who play a meaningful role in the child’s life.
PRESENCE:
- The state of being somewhere.
- The outward form of someone or something especially as indicative of a quality.
- Having a noteworthy quality of effectiveness.
- Dignified manner or conduct .
THE HOME:
*A place where one inhabits or resides
*The social unit formed by a family living together
*A place where one is loved wholly and unconditionally without barriers, restrictions, judgments or high expectations.
PARENTAL PRESENCE:
Presence is the Essence of Parenting
Developing an intimate relationship with your child/children.
(A relationship where your attitude, behavior, comportment, poise, demeanor, is felt and imbibed by the child/children)
Parental Presence is much more than just being present

Parenting is primarily about presence. An emphasis on presence in parenting is properly grounded in none other than God Himself.
Man was created to live in God’s presence until sin made God to expel man from His presence. But Christ’s death and resurrection reconciled us to God and through the Holy Spirit we are enabled to live in God’s presence once again.
The command to be: “fruitful and multiply” given to married couple at the very beginning, indicates that procreation is at the heart of God’s purpose for marriage. God’s design is for couples to have children, nurture and bring them up in the fear and ways of God. Within this overall divine creation purpose, the couple are to partner in parenting, with the man leading the way and they both nurturing the children and cultivating a home where the children can thrive.
Here, we have the parents presence with their children and of course God’s presence with the parents and together we live lives that glorifies and pleases God.

It has been evidenced that having both parents actively involved in a child’s life, provides significant social, spiritual, psychological and health benefits. The benefits cover all developmental stages from infancy to late adolescence. The benefits of your time well spent will last a lifetime in the life of your child.
